so wait up, you never get nervous anymore

Oh Tokyo Police Club... when I first was introduced to you, I sadly confused you with Tokio Hotel. Please take no offense because I was young and naive. Little did I know that your new album, Champ, is pure genius. Also, you don't dress like gothic girls (just sayin...). See here's the simple math...

does not equal

hmm which one is not like the other?!

I'll give you a hint... the bottom one is actually good music. Wait Up has been stuck in my head for days.

Still watching Scrubs constantly. Luckily, this week did not end up being as difficult
as it looked like it was going to be. Today Accounting was cancelled... which is nice except he said that it was a medical emergency... which never sounds great. You know what is great about Scrubs? While it is absolutely hilarious but it also has so many episodes that just bring that tear to the eye... The best is this episode where Turk and JD help this man.

Oh.my.God. I am so BORED. Is there anything I could be doing to be productive? Yeah probably. Can I think of it? No I can't. Mehhh entertain me pleaseeee! After finishing all of the work that is due this week, now all I can do is wait until tomorrow to put the semi-formal plan into action. Now I just putz around doing nothing but playing Angry Birds and watching Scrubs and wanting to eat shitty food. Just threw a mini-hissy fit to Roommate Michaela... she gave me the idea to clean... That actually will probably be the best option. Maybe even vacuum!!!! Somehow trying to resist doing to the bored text to Lee butttt the defense is slowly diminishing.

Oh! New Katy Perry video for ET... weirdest video ever... I mean really ever! SO strange. Esp the part at the end with the deer legs. Given the make-up is fairly cool, but the rest of it is just very strange. She spends the first like minute as a M.Night Shamalan's Signs Aliens. Is it supposed to be artistic? I guess it could be looked like that, but mehh. The song's still great though, and the Noisa remix is better. So should I start cleaning now? Yeah probably.

I feel like I'm dropping the ball a bit on these last few posts, but maybe it's just the boredom taking over my brain. I'm actually losing brain cells as I type and you read. Gahhh help me I'm SO BORED.

GIMME GIMME MORE

It is 12:40 am on March 30th 2011. All I want is... CAKE. Just a wittle bit. Or a whole one.
Also... snow?? Snow and rain all day??? No thank you, can I get a second option????

Also... the song Gimme More? Underrated. Good job B.Spears. We still love you.

oh yeah, alright, take it easy baby

Feeling a bit sentimental this afternoon... the age old topic of second chances is on my mind a bit. Honestly, I have always been one to give them. People make mistakes. I make mistakes (given... rarely, but it does happen) (joke.). It's a big risk to take sometimes, but... it's worth it 95% of the time. On a another sentimental note... it's nice to be loved :) Well I can't seem to focus right now... but that's okay... nothing new or different. I love homework parties. And angry bird parties. And when they combine into one :) Good song for this sentimental mood- Return to Me- NeedtoBreathe. I can't find a YouTube for it, buttttt look it up!

Roommate Erin is now addicted to Angry Birds, as well. Lee and I played for like an hour last night... yes we're that cool. It's all about the A.B. Seasons right now. St. Patty's Day? You have STUMPED me. Can't get past this one level... sadly, it's only 1-4. Tsk, tsk... what a disappointment. The wooden pieces are attached together! What is that! Why is that! It's IMPOSSIBLE. Throw me a bone A.B. Now... some genius, genius father made a A.B. themed cake for his son... how cool is that! So cool! It's the perfect combination... cake and angry birds. And! And it is interactive! Here is the video of him making it and the boy playing it.

(UPDATE: As of 4:45 pm on March 29th 2011... level 1-4 of St Patty's Day was officially conquered. Suck it green pigs.)

On a plus side! Scrubs is now on instant watch on Netflix. Well it's good news and bad news... good news is that Scrubs is hill-aiiiiirrrr-eee-ous. Bad news is that it's another distraction on top of everything else. Another positive note on today is that my new boots from UrbanOutfitters. Absolutely in love with them. But they don't have a zipper which makes them difficult to get on... not as difficult to get off. Weird. Well either way. They're great. Okay... need to get work done so that this hell week can continue. Today's not the best post... sorry for dropping the ball!

Peace out girl scout... wow would love some girl scout cookies right now. Too bad they're all in the Williamsburg... sad face.

BACK! Suckas. After watching the Teen Mom 2 finale I felt the need to rant. These teen pregnancy shows really 'grind my gears' (family guy what upp). I feel like it completely glamorizes the idea of being pregnant and a teenager... at the same time. Um no... it's not great. Secret Life of an American Teenager = worst. show. ever. They make it look like it's cute to have a mother and daughter go through being preggers at the same time... yeah news flash- it's really not... since when is having a baby before you graduated high school a good thing? I probably am just digging myself a hole and saying controversial things... but seriously, when did that become an encouraged lifestyle. Teen Mom isn't as bad as Secret Life, but it's not all that much better. At least it shows the negatives... such as struggling to go to school and fighting with da babay dadday. Oh well.

Not that this is relevant at all... but here's more music you need. Is it overwhelming yet?
Mine is Yours- Cold War Kids
Mine is Yours (Passion Pit remix)

and ooh la, the world just chewed her up, and spat her out.

Listening to Harry Potter Hedwig's Song with Jamie. And the dubstep remix, Potter style.

Listen to this: Dog Days Are Over (Yeasayer Remix) for your chill theme and Good Life by OneRepublic for your feel-good theme.

What is it about Goldfish and Cheez-Its that are so delicious? Is it dangerous to believe that I could live off of them? Hah, that's a lie... I couldn't live without cake. Why do these late night cravings come? Is there a real answer? And why is it always a craving for bad food? And will I stop asking questions? Yes, for now. Well tummy, you've won this time. I officially and sitting here, stuffing my face with the snack that smiles back until you bite their heads off. Which, bee tee dubs, is one of the most morbid marketing lines ever. It's a little scarring. Actually you know what else is great? Cake. Cake is one of the best inventions ever. I want some right now. Am I pregnant? HAH that's a joke. If you only knew. I found this cake on a website and it looks SO COOL. it's sooo redddd. literally. it's that color.

Moving on... 250 calories later...

Last night- ski formal! So much fun. Really inspirational to have more team bonding on Club Tennis. It shall be looked into. Speaking of Club Tennis- planning the semi-formal for us this Friday. It's another thing to worry about, but it is one of the more enjoyable stresses of my week. It should be lots of fun and am mucho excited for it to happen! Dinner at Clementine's and then a rage after? Fabulous way to spend your Friday if you ask me. Speaking of this week... this will be the week from Hell. Test in CIS and Law/Ethics, presentation in 201, quiz in 202, and planning the formal. It's okay though... just get each piece done. Had to order my dress for Friday and pay $25 for 2 day shipping to ensure its arrival before Friday... so my bank account is a little injured right now but hopefully the Bank of Nana will soon aid its recovery. That sounded spoiled... whoopsie!

Jamie just shot me with the Nerf gun.

Well let's take a moment of silence to all of the brackets out there that have officially died. WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON THIS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT THIS YEAR. Not one single 1 seed is in the Final 4. Unheard of! And then today, biggest upset ever: VCU beating 1 seeded Kansas. Yeah... VCU... aka a CAA team. March Madness is turning into March WTF Mayhem.((Sidenote: Listening to this music makes me want to watch Harry P now. Love the HP. Jamie is playing the violen.)) Either way... this is the most insane year ever for this tournament. Carolina, ya tried today... I guess. It wasn't great but it wasn't terrible. The comeback to tie with like 2 min left?? Awesome! The fail to follow through?? Terrible. A big Carolina Crumble... a Tarheel Letdown. Oh well, Kenfucky's going to the Final 4 now so that's too bad. Apologies for the vulgarity. God's probably disappointed as well, because even God loves the Tarheels, which is why he made the sky Carolina blue. His bracket is probably in shambles which is why WE'RE GETTING SNOW THIS WEEK?? Wow weather man, let's get it together. It's almost April, which means that the weather should be getting warmer... not colder. So maybe we could take care of that... muchas gracias.

Today was just one of the best days ever. No complaints whatsoever. Minus the Tarheel loss, that's just a dagger. But even that couldn't kill this day. Norah, I need you to answer your phone or your Skype.

It's 12 now so technically it is Monday and no longer Sunday Funday, but we'll count it as Sunday anyways. It's time to brush mah teef wid mah wifey (Jamie) and den itz Angry Birds time before bed. We're avoiding the bathroom because right now it smells... really really really badly. We're gonna go in armed with Febreeze and brush in a timely manner.

Now for the music you should be listening to...

Good Luck with your Mondays!

your daddy must've been a drug dealer. why? cause you dope.

Well seeing as it is now Saturday afternoon around 1:40 pm and I have spent the past few hours in the library (welcome to Club Carrier), I am ready to rage. It also does not help that last night I did not go out, but instead went to Brooke's and watched movies/nom-nommed for hours. Seriously, so much food in the belly. Get in my belly Green's rice krispie treats. You know the nice thing about Carrier early on a Saturday is that there is almost no one here! Really, typical JMU because most people are still hungover from last night. The majority of the student population has probably been out of bed for maybe an hour max. This girl on the other hand was up at 9:45 and running by 10:07. Why are morning runs so difficult??? It's like some transformation happens between about 1230 and 130 pm and all of a sudden you are in much better shape to be running! It's strange really, but it is always nice to get it out of the way in the morning so that you don't have to worry about it later. Though, the optimal run times (in my personal, unqualified opinion) are probably the run between 2-4 or 10 pm.

Last night we began watching The Illusionist, but the disc was skipping quite a bit so we decided to switch movies. Next option: Knight and Day. Oh Tom Cruise, it's really hard to take you seriously. Final consensus among Brooke, Liz, Anna, and myself: one of the strangest movies ever. It was debatable as to whether they intentionally made some of the part bad to be funny or if it really was that bad. To begin, about 10 minutes into the movie, Tom Cruise claims that the FBI is going to call him crazy when they capture Cameron Diaz... well hate to break it to you TC- your character is crazy. He successfully comes off as someone who is not only somewhat creepy and strange, but also has this unrealistic ability to balance on top of a swerving, speeding sedan driving through a Boston tunnel. Also, why did you shoot Rodney?? That was a bit unnecessary, even though it was only in the leg. He's a nice guy, so that might have been dramatic. I personally found the movie somewhat entertaining, but really it was just because of some of the worst lines I have heard in a long time. Such as "wow, you've got skills." Add a "homeslice" for the icing on the cake Tom. And who taught you to fly a commercial airplane? Oh it's a Scientology thing? Nope that's still questionable. Speaking of Scientology- there is a Church of Scientology near the Hotel Rouge in Washington DC, which is where we normally stay. It's by Dupont Circle. Either way, whenever my mother and I see people going in or coming out, they are always older men that look like the Monopoly man that seem strangely cheery. Must be one heck of a service... ending with pass go and collect $200. Back to Knight and Day- funniest line: "I'm uhh just looking for ice..." if you see the movie you'll understand but otherwise it looks pretty lame. Oh wait, the movie was.

Update on the Nerf attack: Fail for now. Next time there will be a foam thing loaded to go, Erin. love you :)

On to a more important topic: music. Maybe I should just make a weekly list of music that should be listened to. Yes, every Saturday. So if it's on the list, you should probably go listen to it. That was conceded- my apologies, but really. I'll make it easy, too, by putting the music in a link.

For the week of March 20th-March 26th 2011

Get your party shoes on:

1. Backseat- New Boyz (feat The Cataracs & DEV)
2. Top of the World- The Cataracs feat DEV
3. Till the World Ends- it's britney bitch
4. ET (Noisa Dubstep Remix)- Katy Perry
5. All Night Long- Alexandra Burke (feat Pitbull)
^unavailable in the US for some reason...
6. Bass Down Low (Proper Villians Remix)- The Cataracs feat DEV (better than the orig in my opinion)

Alt:

1. Bread and Butter- Hugo
2. 99 Problems- Hugo
If you haven't heard of Hugo, that's too bad, but it's okay because now you have. I actually heard him in DHall the other day, which just blew my mind. But he's a new sign for Epic Records and his music is sexy, so get some. These are the two that have been released. Yes, that is a Jay-Z cover. Continuing on...
3. Beautiful Girl- William Fitzsimmons (Free Download of the week? Yes. Hurry and get it before Tuesday)
4. Open Up/ Land Down Under- Dispatch (oldie but a goodie)
5. Young Blood- Naked and Famous
6. Islands- the xx
7. Crystalized- the xx

Okay gotta stop... late to go to Ashley's to get dress. Ski semi-formal tonight with Leonard :) ... so it's probably better I didn't go out last night. 5:30 early start? Let's go. Happy Saturday!

To end with a lyric:
"Cause i'm feelin lucky, and I'm feelin lean.
Keeps me hungry, keeps me mean.
I'm sharp like a blade, and cold like a knife."

fry em up. it's friday.

What is the point of a blog? Today in 202, we talked about Stephen Covey's 7 Habits and the ability to be an empathetical listener. It's actually difficult for most people to do. Why? Because it means listening to understand instead of to respond. And to do this, it means we can't talk about ourselves. So that's it. We are all obsessed with talking about ourselves. So that's it (again). That's the point of a blog. Basically, I apparently I think what I have to say is important enough to put on the Internet... where anybody (and everybody!?) can read it. Well at least be entertained by it. Hmm.. well let me continue my pointless ramble.

It's Friday. And no, I am not going to reference the Rebecca Black song, because, as an open music snob, I was actually unable to finish watching the entire video due to it's lack of... anything really. But! I will provide this lovely YouTube gem... whatup JMaddy. Rebecca Black's Friday JMU Style (so better). Well done, Dukes, well done.

Well background information in 25 words or less, because I know ya'll really care. JMU student, female, obsessed with music (specifically Augustana), slight addiction to Diet Dr. Pepper, wishfully artistic, self-indulgent, & always looking for a laugh. I using my film camera and like to pretend that I can take pictures but that's debatable. I guess as this blog unfolds more information will be revealed. Humor is probably one of the most important things to me. Winston Churchill once said "A joke is a very serious thing." That's a fact, bro, laughing is one of the healthiest habits to obtain.

Yesterday was like Christmas! The Strokes's new album came out on Tuesday. Let's go. If you haven't listened to it yet then I strongly suggest that you do. Two words: Machu Piccu. Take a listen. I also was able to purchase my Augustana tickets. May 22nd at the NorVa with the Maine. It's actually going to be the highlight of the year. They're new album drops April 26th and by interviews so far have stated that it will be their best album yet, which says a lot since everything they have come out with has been beyond breathtaking. Okay I will stop with the music. It's hard to stop though. How do you stop when there is so much??

Roommate Danielle just found in my drawer the Nerf gun that my mom gave me as a joke Valentine's Day gift. What is uppp 90's toys. This thing shoots like a bullet! And there are suction cups on the end of them! I'm going to sneak-attack Roommate Erin when she comes home. They shoot really fast though so hopefully there will be minimal casualties. Activate Operation payback-for-taking-Teddy-hostage. Get some. And with that, I will end with a quote:

“Do what you can, and confess frankly what you are unable to do; neither let your effort be shortened for fear of failure, nor your confession silenced for fear of shame.” -John Ruskin
