oh the trouble we could get in, so let's screw this one up right.

Hello Monday... you have not been missed. What has been missed is this fabulous weather that is currently outside the window! Supposedly it will get up to 81 degrees today, but there's also a wind advisory... so that's a bit debatable. Recently have been back on a Jack's Mannequin kick, which of course could not be complete without Dark Blue. One of the greatest piano intros of all time, in my opinion, and is attached to an equally amazing and different music video. Sadly, it would not let me embed that version, but I found this in-studio version which is just as beautiful.

Another great one is Holiday From Real, which is also the source of this post's title.
If you have not seen Jack's Mannequin in concert, then I highly recommend that you change that. We (Cory, Christine, Molly, and I) saw him the day after we graduated. Well is it them? Andrew McMahon is foundation to it- piano and vocals- but there are other member's that are included in the process. Out of curiosity, I investigated the reason as to why the name Jack's Mannequin was chosen. Thank you to Wikipedia:

He formed the band under the name Jack's Mannequin, which had come about after McMahon had considered the name The Mannequins. However, after growing "bored of the 'the' band names," he decided to "sandwich" it together with the title of a song he had completed for the record, "Dear Jack." Originally, there was said to be "not much significance behind the name," but upon McMahon's diagnoses though, it became ironic as "the Jack I wrote the song for & ultimately named the project for after, had suffered from childhood leukemia."

Leukemia is an important subject for McMahon because he was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia just a few days before the release of their first album- Everything in Transit. Since then, McMahon has made a valiant effort in the cause of finding a cure for leukemia. Among other activities, they have set up the Dear Jack Foundation, which works with leukemia patient. Check out the website, it's pretty sweet. Everything in Transit was definitely a solid album. While the songs all sound similar, they are very different at the same time. It is a various mix of guitar and piano and drums, but the second album- The Ghost Passenger- is much more piano oriented. The single for Ghost Passenger was The Resolution, who's video was directed by Stephanie Meyer (yeah the Twilight woman) but is actually really good. You know, the age old story of mermaid following Andrew McMahon across the country and bringing the ocean with her.

Artsy, I like it.

Well seeing as today is so beautiful outside (minus the wind, but hey beggars can't be choosers, okay?) I am feeling a marathon post. This post began around 1030 this morning while I was killing time before 202 and then it was restarted around 1 pm. Now I am writing while waiting for 201 to begin with a Green's food-baby in my belly (ughh). We might need to change up where lunch takes place. Now that I can eat pasta, it's hard to walk away from Green's without a food-baby. Oh yeah! Did I mention I gave up pasta for the month of March? It was difficult but I achieved it. There was some consideration for continuing it throughout all of Lent, but that was decided against.

Today will be a great day for a run. It's nice weather and sunny out. So a run in Purcell park maybe? Oh! Yesterday (Sunday) was good weather, too so after we woke up and ate breakfast at McAllister's (Spud Ole anyone??), it was play time! We (Lee, Gabe, Laura, Diana, Tim, and myself) went to Purcell to play baseball! Diana and I ran there, but that was only about a mile, and then Gabe and I ran a lap around Purcell. Baseball was fun! But really, it has to be one of the most laid back sports I have ever played. By the way... catching is not my forte. Can't help the fact that I don't like things flying at my face and panic a little! Oh American pastime, one day we'll be friends.

Seeing as the weather was so fabulous today, spent some time on the Quad with Brooke today and saw three puppies! THREE PUPPIES! Most adorable thing ever? Absolutely. It's great because the frat boys always bring them out to get attention... and don't worry- it works every time.

Speaking of dogs. Last night around 11pm I was on the phone with my mother and suddenly mid-sentence, she stops and says "what the hell? is that our dog?" And indeed it was. A few streets down from our house, she stumbled upon Cody, who had managed to follow her sneakily all the way from our house. Apparently my dad had let him out to pee and then walked away for a quick minute, but Cody was quicker. Poor thing. I guess at 12 years old (dog years), he might be losing it a little bit. While he is commonly known as Cody, he has another title: Velcro Dog. Attached at the hip constantly to whoever is home. Also, his hearing some how improves when food is being opened downstairs... very sly that one.

Glee! This is good. Cover of Keane's Somewhere Only We Know. Probably one of my favorites that they've ever done!

Well I'm out of topics for now but until later! When I get bored again. Should probably go run... not sure if it'll happen. Just kidding it has to happen. Just kidding... need to find motivation. Help?

Oh! Something else to ramble about... Found this blog via the Facebook News Feed. Kind of stalker but it's really cool. It's actually Fossil's blog (yes the sunglasses and wallet company) and it's all about vintage stuff. LOOK AT THIS BLOG BECAUSE IT'S AWESOME. They have a DIY section that has lots of really cool projects... and I want to do them all. At home, such as over the summer or over winter break, crafts are a regular occurance! But at school, due to limited supplies, limited time, and limited workspace, they are not so regular. Next year, this will be a different story. Ahh having an apartment will be the best ever. It's great to use your room as one giant piece of canvas for you to work on. I never want to move out of my room at home because the walls are covered in everything from the past like 7 years! Posters, pictures, tickets, etc.

So of these DIY projects that I have browsed over so far, these are the ones that may take priority:

DIY Constellation Art
DIY Paper Flowers (reminiscent of Busch Gardens... oh childhood...)

Okay, I really need to go run. There will be a second post later tonight because I have another topic to rant about... and Jamie has insisted that I finish the blog in time for her class at 630. Cheers Jamie, this should take you a while to read.
